for 1855, with 5in. octagonal barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON.', London proofs, plain cylinder with roll engraved scene stamped 'COLT'S PATENT' along with the serial number, open iron frame signed 'COLT'S PATENT', traces of silver-plating to the iron grip-straps and trigger-guard bow, plain walnut smooth one-piece grip and articulated under-barrel rammer, retaining much original blued finish and colour, together with an American style fitted case, compartmented and lined in red velvet, the inside of lid with parchment 'Colt' label, the case containing a flask, mould, oil bottle, cleaning rod, nipple-key and cap-tin, all period to the pistol and almost certainly associated
